Anyone ever done a complete roof replacement on a B Body? I know that 66 Coronets are not the most valuable Mopars out there, but getting a better car is not an option. My Coronet is a former vinyl top car, so the roof is rusty. The rest of the car is pretty good. I already have purchased a rust free roof, and I plan on removing the entire skin by drilling out the spot welds, while saving the inner structures. Any pointers, suggestions, warnings before I get going on this job? Thanks!

I haven't but maybe it would be easier to replace the complete roof and structure? I know you would have to properly support the ends and middle of the car but I'm thinking it would be a lot less hassle.

clean every thing and drill out the welds, make shure you get them all. A helper is a bonus. there should be a couple of mig welds that your going to have to cut. After the roof skin is off, clean every thing real good, apply seam sealer to the roof braces, install the new skin. Make sure to rub the roof to compress the seam sealer. Clamp the roof, look it over real good and start welding. Roof replacements are very easy.

Thanks for the tips, I'm going to go from the base of the A pillar to the factory seam at the bottom of the C pillar. Is that what you did, or did you weld the metal together at the top of the A pillar? Thanks again.
