I need a pitman arm for my '72 barracuda, manual stock box. Apparantly there was some kind of a change made to the pitman arm and/or steering box between '72 and '73?
When I turned this car into a race car, I changed from power steering to manual and I remember taking the box (w/ pitman arm) from another barracuda, but I'm not sure of the year model (been WAY too long ago). I also remember changing the steering link and tie rods, along with the spindles from the same donor car.

So my question is what changed and how can I tell if I have a '70-'72 or a '73-'74 steering box? The parts places don't stock either one, but can get both. There is a HUGE price differnce between the two. I have had at least one barracuda from 1976 to now and alway thought there was no difference in B and E bodies, much less in the years of E bodies????

Thanks,
Brian Dunnigan

On 73 and later cars the studs(for lack of a better term) on the steering box and pitman arm face down. Pre 73 they faced up. The center link does not interchange either. Hope this helps.
