I bought mine several years ago and they are anodized aluminum tubing.

I do not remember where I bought them.

i made a set with the conduit and they were fine for the time being. then i had a member over at the lift off hood play ground machine me a set out of stainless. real nice heavy duty piece. just a thought, i had mine made so that the rear poles were shorter than the front to keep the hood (when displayed) even with the roof line of the car. that in my opinion looks great.

Well...175 for some poles was just too much so I got some 1/2 inch PVC and cut them to 15 inches. They fit over the pins nicely but a tad sloppy...(I can tighten that up later) bought some wooden 5/8 dowel and cut 4 pieces 3 inches, stuck them inside the pvc (fit through the hood holes nicely)...painted all the color of the car...and they work....all under 5 bucks and 45 minutes work.

Yes they are not chrome or polished whatever but I figure people will be looking at the engine and not looking at the poles.

used them today on a calm to slightly breeze and worked well. Medium to strong winds would lift that hood off regardless of strength of poles. Supports the hood nicely

You could drill and thread the bottoms and put a plastic thumb screw in them to bear on the existing pins and drill a hole in the top to put the hood pin through and that will hold the hood down in any car show weather you would want to be out in.

I bought a set from the link Big Ed listed. They are really nice. For 175, I don't think anyone else would build you a set for that kind of money. Fits nice and tight on the hood pins so they aren't flimsy.

Yes already thought of that but if it's real winding, no set, even the 175 set, won't hold it down. These performed well today and I am very happy.
