I ordered new stamped rockers for my 451 through summit,MP units 8 ending number *****76 8 ending *****77.All of them appear to be the same to me!I was capping off my engine and stalled out on this. All the (right) valves stems line up with the rockers and the(left) are off center of the stem.

I havnt disassembled the pass side shafts yet but even with all 16 new ones laid out the push rod cup looks to be to the same side on all rockers, while my old ones the cups appear to well, right as in proper relation per two for each set.

Is it the heat or do i have 16 right side rocker arms even though 8 of them were packaged 77 while the other 8 76.
ALl of them have a 4 stamped on them,
Any ideas greatly appreciated!!!!

This has nothing to do with "you should have got adjustable rockers"....

They're labeled wrong....the same thing happened to me. Call Mopar Performance and they will get you the correct "lefts". Send them you're complete set with your receipt from Summit. Better hurry....as they don't make them anymore.

He should have gotten adjustable rockers, the clearance between those rockers is going to be as much as .050, if he has a Comp XE cam it's going to make a racket ...

I have the Mopar .509 cam.Man i just dont have 5-600 dollars for new push rods and the adjustable rockers Probably need new shafts with the new rockers,,700 bucks for a street car valvetrain.I dont havea problem with that but need some bread.Do the make a standard low deck ball/cup push rod or do i have to measure even for this hydraulic cam?
Thanks for the help.

Has the heads and block been decked, what gasket are you using? hyd. lifter are forgiving, but you don't want the lifter plunger .100 into the lifter because of decking and such, lifter plunger .020 -.030 compressed is optimal.

Yea,I have the 509 cam as well.
It was only a matter of time before I put 2 pushrods through the rockers. These were the non adjustable with the thicker cross section.
Buy adjustables now and save yourself some grief later.

You should ALWAYS measure them. Then there is no guessing what your lifter preload is. Get a checking push rod and check them like JohnRR said. If they're too long you get too much lifter preload and they'll hang a valve open at high rpm.

Those rockers will work OK for that cam IMHO. I'm using them on my 493 with the same cam with no problems. Just send the wrong ones back to Summit and they'll make it right.

Thanks John for the preload specs.I will send them back.

Seems like this from Hughes is no more than the iron adjustables after shafts and hardware what you guys think of this from Hughes.
rocker kit
I have iron heads.I can "swipe" the card because i need to keep moving to get this thing back on the road.

Can i get everything for 500?
I dont know the deck height.Or heads.Used a stock FelPro gasket.

Or maybe this is the right answer for me.Upgrades can be made later.I am not going to run this engine like a race horse. But do want the cam to have enough lift for proper function and not get whooped by a stock 5.0 Mustang that likes to come up on me

I would be really surprised if MP would exchange parts that you bought from Summit. Assuming that they would it's still no guarantee because they were the ones who packaged them wrong in the first place.

Just call Summit and explain the deal and see if they can verify the correct parts before they ship them the second time. It's not the first time they have had it happen I'm sure.

Well then prepare to be really suprised....because as I mentioned earlier I had the SAME problem and MP took care of it without any hassle. Actually, Summit was more suspicious than MP. Had I sent them back to Summit, you could be sure they would have just sent me more mislabled rockers. All you have to do is contact MP, explain the issue, then send them your COMPLETE set with the receipt that you did purchase them from Summit, and they will overnight you a new set as soon as they have the correct parts. When I purchased mine from Summit, they came in bags with a generic paper label on them....when MP sent me the correct ones, they came in individual small boxes.

I have these same rockers using an XE268 cam and no noise issues.

The factory stamped steel rocker arms are light weight, strong, don't have any moving parts to go bad, and don't have any fitment issues under stock valve covers. They're great for a street car.

Just get one adjustable push rod length checking tool and measure for the exact length push rod you need for the correct lifter pre-load. Then order a set of custom length push rods from Smith Bros.

You can also get special shims that go under the rocker shafts to make small corrections as well.
