they look the same but the 66 uses a remote sending unit, the 67 tach does not, here is a picture of a 66 with the wiring and sending unit.

Thanks !

But everything else is the same ? With a remote I'm guessing the wiring is different but can you switch it over to a non remote ? Does it really matter which way ? Which way is easier ?

Thanks guys !

What sending unit? does it not just use one wire to the coil like all other tachs? then one wire each for light and ground.
Not sure what's in that picture. It looks like two tachs to me. One upside down. Or a vacuum gauge, what is that black thing that looks like a vacuum hose? I am sure I am wrong, but that is what it looks like to me.
Could you maybe use a new after market tach and put it in the stock housing? They should just use one wire to the coil. No?

I have mechanical Aptitude.

A lot of the early tachs used a remote sender.I have an old S W that takes a sender. No they wont work without a sender. The non sender tach would probally be easier as you dont need to find the sender. That looks like factory wrap around a wire to protect it.Rocky
