Hello just picked up a numbers matching 318 70 challenger se. The car has sat for the last 20 years. Actually runs and drives. I have a couple questions the car was partially disassembled. The read small window and frame was removed along with the vinyl top. I want to get the window back in is there any manuals that would outline this procedure. Also I looked on eBay and they sell a front disc kit complete for 450 shipped. Is this expensive vs sourcing the parts individually.

I just ordered a new tank and fuel lines and want to get the brakes situated.

Some of my questions are assuming the 318 car isn't very rare but it is numbers matching. Should I try to keep it stock for value?
Thanks Joe

Rockauto carries a lot of mechanical parts, you can probally get brake parts from there. I like to do the front disc swap from mid to late 70s valares/aspens. There are quite a few other cars that you can swap from. If you can find the spindles and caliper adapters, it could be done much cheaper than for 450.

I'd try searching here for info on the se rear window.

A numbers matching 318 probally wouldn't make it more valueable than swapping in a 340 or big block. Myself, I rare keep them as 318 cars.

Do you have all the SE specific parts (backglass, backglass plug, vinyl top trim)? If not, I'd seriously consider just building it as a regular challenger. SE stuff isn't terrifically expensive, but some of it is difficult to locate. The nice thing about 318 cars is that you can build them to your specifications without feeling too guilty about it. Rebuilding/restoring a car to ANY degree is preferable to just letting it sit outside rotting away.

Congrats on your purchase!

Hello congratulations on your purchase.I own a rtse challenger and found that the fiberglass rear window insert was installed with philips self tapping screws. After installing the insert a thin foam material was laid over the opening to cover the seam around the insert ,this way after the vinyl top installation the seam will be hidden. If you do not use the foam then it will show. The foam can be purchased at any upholstery shop,I used 3/16.Hope this helps.ps it also has an insert for the inside to cover the back of the fiberglass .

I filled mine with seam sealer then glued the foam on top with 3m trim adhesive.

I would seal it, I don't think I sealed the outer seam and I have a leak! Doh!!

I have dome lights if you need one.

I also sold a rear plug with interior insert for $75 at Carlisle. So not crazy expensive to build.

Good Luck!! Sounds like you have almost everything! I would try and utilize the numbers block if you want a 318, if not go for anything! i wouldnt keep it around unless you have the room though.
