Here is one for all you Mopar parts guys out there.

I am having difficulty getting a replacement ECU computer (RL896302AD)for my daughters 2004 Dodge Stratus Sedan 2.7L V6, Automatic, VIN: 1B3EL56R24N280952.

Do any of you know what the heck is going on?

My local dealership has had it on order for over 1 month and the ETA keeps being pushed out.

Any input will certainly be appreciated.

Dennis,

Thanks for your reply.

The enging had a oil leak that did something to the computer and now the check engine light will not go out.

The car runs fine, everything works and it will not really become a critical issue until it comes time for the emissions test in November.

I am not sure based on the oil leak damage that reflashing is really an option.

beleive it or not reflashing can be an answer to alot of issues ,
reflashing will have all updated programing for your car since when it was made any issues that have been found since then, so yes i think i would do that first before purchase of 300 + $ ecm , that may be the only diff,

Hi Dennis,

Just ran the car down to have the codes pulled and this is what it is showing.

P0058 - O2 2/2 Sensor
Heater circuit high

P0038 - O2 2/2 Sensor
Heater circuit high

P0300 - misfire

The O2 sensors have been replaced and are good, the car has not misfired since I have driven it in the past 2 weeks.

Thoughts???

Disconnect the battery for about 5 minutes and see if that doesn't clear the codes for you.

high cir may not have anything to do with o2 itself,
most vehicles run a system of either 5v or 8 vol for the sensors,( not exactlt sure which one on that car)
, youre running high it appears on both side, most time youre going to find that the wires on the back side near the exhaust will have gotten melted, or has bad connectors in this case,
this can be a pcm issue but check the wiring first, this is something you can do and doesnt cost you $$
as for the misfire , several thing induce this reading as well,, bad wires, (inserts)(check with ohm meter) bad plugs, bad coil pk,
by the way those are downstrean o2 sensor , so look at the wiring all the way up firewall
if the car is say over 120-135 tho miles bet its all three wires/plugs should be changed out in those cars @ 55-75 tho miles
coil pk @ 100-125 tho
as for a reflashing of the pcm , there are several auto stores that are very good at doing this, besides the dealer, in ill als automotive has the latest equpment and are very good at it,
like i said c hec youre connectors for corrosion, and or melting

Thanks Stumpy. I tried it and it did not work. What a PIA to get to the battery.

Thanks Dennis for the advise. I will get under the hood tomorrow AM and check the connectors. It is too darn hot now (108) to mess with it today.
