This thread is probably more street than strip, but I'm assuming there's more knowledge regarding dominator tuning over this side of the board.

OK, so I've got a 8896 Dominator with Quickfuel 34-105 metering blocks (converts carb from 3-circuit to 2-circuit).
Last year i thought I had this tuned up really well according to my LM-1.
Anyway, first drive of the car in 12 months and I'm finding that the car is going crazy lean on tip in. Idle is good. Putting a little load (or anything over about 1800-2000 rpm) is good, even if a little rich.
But just off idle it's really lean (16-17:1).
Fuel is 6-12 months old, so can't rule out a gummed up passage somewhere (maybe a PV issue?), but assuming that's OK, where should I be looking to fatten up?

Is it an older model, before they had replaceable air bleeds? If not can you tell us which air bleeds are currently in it?

Did you do transfer slot restrictors when you did the 2 circuit conversion?

If you did maybe go bigger with them.

No, didn't do transfer slot restrictors.... But that's made me think of something.

Despite the idle A/F being spot on when I parked the car last year, it was quite rich this AM. Had to lean the idle mix screws and back the idle speed down. I could have closed the butterflys past the transfer slots.
Regardless, I'm going to pull the carb off and check exactly how I've got it set up. It's been two years since I set it up, and I can't find the piece of paper where I recorded everything.

I'm not sure why the idle A/F was so good last year, and had to be adjusted this year. Guess I'll blow it all out with brake cleaner while I'm at it.

Re: transfer slots. I may be onto something there. This is from the Innovate forum:
"Why would he want T slot exposure at curb idle?"
"[try] having a "small" amount of primary slot exposed at idle. Most start with .020" or square. This helps prime the transition curcuit of the carb.
Not haveing any slot exposed can sometimes cause a too lean condition right off idle.
too much exposed will cause idle afr too be too rich reguardless of mixture screw setting"

I'll go back to that and start all over...

Wow, I really need to stop drinking!
I lied, based on the jets installed in the body, I did do the transfer slot restriction..... Now just need to measure what it is.

Edit: TSR jets are 0.055" (#54 drill bit)
