I fired up a rebuilt 440 and I have a good size oil leak coming from between engine and transmission. link At first I figured I messed up the rear main seal, but now I'm not so sure. Before I started tearing things apart, I pulled the distributor and just spun the oil pump with a priming rod. I get good oil pressure - 50 psi, and after 30 seconds I have a quarter size puddle of oil on the ground. Isn't the rear seal like the front seal? - it doesn't see direct oil pressure, unlike the bearings. I'm thinking now that one of the rear oil plugs is leaking. I know the plugs are installed, however three months after assembly, I don't remember if I checked/tightened them after I got the block back from the machine shop. Any suggests/thoughts would be appreciated - Thanks.

With that much oil,I would also check the plug behind the cam.
