You said you have a spare ignition switch? Just plug it in to test, no need to install it..

This make absolutely no sense because the ignition tumbler assembly the key is inserted into is not part of the ignition switch , it's a separate assembly that turns a separate switch .

But (laugh if you like) removing the key does break the key buzzer circuit. Some sort of feedback from that circuit?
