i know this has been asked a billion times, but what is the largest tire you can fit in a 69 b-body wheelwell and what backspacing works the best? i am looking at buying some cheater slicks for my 69 roadrunner, i found some really cool hurst cheater slicks that are being reproduced by a guy in oregon (he bought the molds and licensing) and they come in a variety of sizes. the ones i was looking at are 28": diameter and 8" wide...can i fit 10" wide in there? what backspacing do i need? the 10" wide slick he had in stock was 32" in diameter...i think i can get a 28". any links to earlier posts are appreciated.

I've got the 15x10's with 5.5 backspacing on my 68 roadrunner without rubbing.

Any link to the guy re-popping the Hurst Cheaters? A pair of those would be sweet!

Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they are not out to get you. WANT TO BUY- Looking for a CD by 'The Sub-Mersians' entitled "Raw Love Songs From my Garage To Your Bedroom". Also, any of the various surf-revival compilation albums this band has contributed to.

LOL - they look like the pair that used to be on the back of my Green Machine!

Anyone remember the Green Machine?

I hope your buying the grooved dirt track style.

Make sure the first time you hit a water puddle with treadless tires that you have both hands on the steering wheel.

neil - if i was going to drive further than a local cruise-in i would probably put on some regular gt qualifiers or something. i wouldn't want to wear out my cheaters driving to yakima! i was looking at buying some like this:

i suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea to get tires with a little more tread pattern like this...

#2 would be safer although they don't look as cool as #1.

If you have access to a local oval track racer friend they can use their tire grooving gun to add some more treads.

i saw that 295/50/15s are 26.7" in diameter....is there room for 295/50/16s at 27.6"? most of the rubbing issues seem to be on the fenderwell lip and the leaf springs. thanks...
