i dont understand anyones worry about box and no box cars running on another. bottom bulb racers that do it all the time are as deadly on the tree, if not more deadly than any delay box racer. there is zero advantage in my opinion.

and if I split the race into (2) races it would just be a gamblers race.... Its not a gamblers race, its a box no box shootout....

Josh.. To You..

I don't understand anyone going to a race thinking they have "No Chance"..

Anytime I go to a race, I'm thinking I'm going to win..

If not... I just test and tune..

Waaaay too much of this on here...

All the best to you..

Chris..

I want to say thanks to Josh for taking this on. I know it can't be any small undertaking. I am going to try to support this event (even from 1,000 miles away). What kind of ET do you think it will take to make Quick 32? I will be honest, I haven't looked at any fliers so if it contains this info I apologize in advance. Is the quick 32 open cockpit and door cars combined? Evenly split into 16/16 qualified split? Just checking since I would like to run for at least $5K to travel that far. When it will cost at least $600 in diesel fuel to get there the cost of entry is not normally an issue. BTW, I raced at a big dollar bracket race here in Dallas last Thanksgiving weekend and the entry was $400.....the place was absolutely packed. Not sure why everyone whines about the cost when the payouts are good.
I have a problem fielding a $60K race car on a regular Saturday night bracket race that pays $1k to win with a $60+ entry. That math doesn't make sense.
Take care and I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks Bigtime for posting that up

I have personally spoke with enough cars to fill both sides of the quick field, but that doesnt mean much more than I spoke with them. Most will show, i know but there could be a situation where I have to let some more cars in that run a little slower.

StrokerDart, you my friend are a true Mopar fanatic and I commend you for comming out to this event.

THANKS

And Bigdog.....that is if they can get a hall pass to come. Might be difficult to find cars to actually show up to get 16 door cars quicker than 8.30? Will that number be adjusted to make a full field if not met? I know Bigdog (my dad) will be right on the bubble of 8.30's, but I'm not even close.....at least not this year (will have to talk to Bigtime about that for next year).

Josh,
After reading everything on this post...All's I have to say is keep up the great work. I can't even imagine what you have to go through on your end just to make this happen. Then there are those who just can't be satisfied with anything.
Jeff and I will be there and I would like to volunteer my time to help out any way I can during the event. Just let me know.
We thank you for everything you are doing for us racers!

Gloria-Jean

If you take TEN DRIVERS from BOX and TEN DRIVERS from NO BOX ( RANDOM DRIVERS) and you average the NO BOX reaction times and the BOX reaction times,, you would realize that the "BOX" drivers have a MUCH BETTER reaction time... Does the "BOX" contribute to the better reaction time??? It most CERTAINLY DOES,, otherwise WHY WOULD ANYONE SPEND THE MONEY TO PURCHASE A BOX???? So,, How could you THINK there is NOT an advantage?????

If you take ten random drivers, I agree with you. If you take the box cars and mix them with the no box cars the whole race, I agree there is an unfair advantage to the box cars. Take whomever is in the final with the box car and I am pretty certain they can hold their own on the tree. You wont get that far without being able cut lights as good as the Super Pro guys. Also, will lay down money that the average reaction time of the No Box Nationals two weeks ago was as good as any Super Pro race!

When Osceola Dragway was an IHRA track, the Ironman race was ALWAYS a box-no box final(they were too cheap to buy an extra trophy).
Most of the guys that won the Ironman trophys were footbrakers.
I footbrake in no box and the combo round does not bother me,be realistic guys. You have to be "ON" the tree to make it that far anyway.
I'll be in,and possibly the Wife also.
Oh,I bet you guys think he needs a powderpuff class too, because most guys can't stand losing to a girl.

anyone can be beat any given time , box racer has the advandage plain and simple, , can they be beat ,? yep ,
but , if you are in there by the time the finals are there , then you stand 25% chance to win, , by that time you allready have made a deal with the other guy to split the pot,,
as for me , if ,, if i get there ,, best have lite , here to have fun,, and race just to beat you ,youre car, , dont care about the money, ,money nice , but the beat down is much better,
i ll be there , with either car , maybe both if gas gets down to 3.00

ooo by the way, girl /guy , dont matter, just bring youre a, game!!

There are several racers on this board whose chances are way better than 25%. Assuming its not Labbous in the other lane.

Why don't you ask the " BOX" guy to race without the " BOX" and SEE FOR YOURSELF what his or her reaction will be... Not reaction time,, but physical AND emotional reaction... I always thought it a BAD IDEA to race with an UNFAIR ADVANTAGE... If the BOX guy is " so good" he or she wouldn't have a problem with NOT using the box OR VISA-VERSA.. I'm a NO BOX kinda guy and think the "box" gives an unfair advantage...
