Factory setup is to supply 12v when cranking to the coil. When key is on run terminal, voltage to coil is lowered as it passes through the ballast resistor.
I see that MSD does not say anything about the 12v crank signal, and they say to just wire the coil solely to the ignition box. I'm planning on this, but just wanted to run it past you guys.
Thanks.

Maybe I should clarify. Yes, the ballast resistor is removed. However, on a stock system, a full 12v is supplied to the coil when cranking. When the car is running the current passes through the resistor by way of the run circuit from the ignition switch. When the switch is fully turned to the right (cranking) there is an additional ignition terminal that sends 12v directly to the coil.
I was just curious if this is necessary with the MSD, or if I should just wire it per their instructions. I'm assuming that the MSD box is not supplying 12v constant (run) to the coil, which would overheat it.
Thanks.
