Other than the brake switch does the neutral safety switch on a 70RR 727 tranny have anything to do with loss of brake lights? I have regular lights. Did a search and didn't come up with anything.

Only switchs involved in the brake lights are the brake light switch on the pedal and the turn signal switch that seperates the power to each brake light,

That's a sep circuit. (1) check the brake light fuse (2) see if the pink "in" wire at the brake pedal sw is hot (should b all the time) (3) engage the hazards & see if they flash. If all good so far seperate the dangling connector under the st col & the white wire is the hot "in" from the brake light & need continuity to the 2 "out wires to each brake light w the stalk in neutral (not sure on the colors) but www.mymopar.com has em

I didn't realize there was a separate brake fuse. I just checked and the dome/brake fuse is ok. The hazards are also working. I'll check the other stuff in the morning.

If the white "in" wire from the br pedal is hot w the pedal depressed then ohm the turn signal harness for continuity

You know I just realized. I was under the dash swapping out one of the bulb sockets on the dash cluster yesterday. I may have accidently disconnected the switch plug from the brake switch while reaching up and under.

Just pulled the switch and it looks like there is no continutity with the switch open or closed. Now I have to try to find a replacement.

You should be able to get one at the local parts store.

Glad to hear it wasn't the turn signal switch. They can get expensive.

I was also hoping that but I did put in a new one when I restored the car a couple years back. Funny though after pulling the brake switch I noticed that it was a part I never replaced when I restored the car.
