(1)jump the NSS terminal on the starter relay to ground(it's the one that goes to the trans neutral safety switch) & try again. (2) see if you have fire to the yellow wire at the starter relay when the key is in "start". (1) is the most likely culprit & I useually just ground it permanently rather than bother with adjusting the NSS.

Rapid, that is in my opinion, INCREDIBLY dangerous advice. All you'd have to do, just once, is have someone unawares start the car in gear, and off you go.

Neutral safety switches work just fine on thousands of Mopars through the years, there is NEVER any reason to disable them

In my experience with this (if you rule out an electrical problem) is to add a spacer between the carb and the manifold. Your gas is getting to hot from sitting or is boiling from the hot nonrunning engine - hence the no start when it is hot. Rob

Based on what you have written here I'm assuming you mean it won't turn over when hot. Is this correct? Not turning over (cranking) and not starting are two very different things when trying to troubleshoot.

Just look at the responses you've gotten so far. One guys suggesting you bypass the neutral safety switch and another suggesting your gas has vaporized.

My guess is that you've got a loose wire connection somewhere. Resistance in your wires will increase with temp, therefore when they are cold you are getting enough juice to turn the car over, but when warm the resistance is too high. How does your fusible link look?

If it's rolling over OK and not starting, that's one thing, but if it barely rolls over, your starter is toast. Rebuild or replace it.

the post above yours explains why that may not be so.

Please don't yell. It's not polite.

Start with the basics

clean up your battery terminal connections and make sure your connections are nice and tight. It may sound too simple but I've seen plenty of cases where a car would sometimes turn over and other times not just because of a dirty or loose bat connection. From there, check the fusible link. Make sure all your connections are clean and tight. If that all looks good, just continue to methodically work through the system checking all your connections.

I had a bad fusible link connection years back. Drove me nutty until I figured out what it was. I used to call my car "Christine" back then because she seemed to have a mind of her own. One minute she wanted to turn over and run and others times not.

Good luck

yes it could be potentially dangerous esp if he has a stick, I've always been an auto fan so I have gotten complacent.
