I have this bad ass 60's Spalding Flamethrower Dual Coil distributor I want to use on the 440 for my next hot rod build (1931 Ford Coupe).

It was designed for a low deck 383 engine.

How can I make this happen? Is there an off the shelf solution for this? I know they make spacers to do the RB distributor on a B block, but how about vice versa?

Will I have to make a spacer to lengthen the shaft using a cut up junk 440 distributor shaft, with a slot added and tube with a set screw?

How much longer is the distributor shaft on a RB than a B engine?

Many thanks guys!

You'd have to swap a shaft out of an identical RB dist (easy to do w OE if the rotation is the same so the pins swing out the same dir) or weld an extension on your B shaft then turn it on a mini lathe to true it up. It could b done if you're dead set on running it & when you're done you'll have the satisfaction of fabbing something outside the box. EDIT your welder could get it concentric wo turning it (butt the ends together in V blocks & tack it at 12 o'clock then grind it smooth then rotate 180 repeat etc) & I would have it a bit long & hand file the tip to fit the inter notch perfectly to elim the rotor rotational play that is the cause (along w loose timing chain/gears) of most timing scatter
