I ask because anything new with quality in mind is a few hundred bucks, yet if i have a stock transmission rebuilt for $450..they seem to come free and work fine, Guess what? I want a stock converter because my car is mild. WHERE can i get a new one that's stock and of nice quality(like those that come from transmission shops with a rebuild?)

I have a BossHog 2000ish stall but I'm not touching it.

Daaco converters are stock replacement IIRC.A local trans parts house or maybe a speed shop should be able to get them.

Yep,you can get a cheap converter through Dacco. I did run (factory hi stall model)them way back and for the $40.00 I thought they were pretty good.I tried PTC and couldn't believe the difference. PTC can send you a very mild converter and the price is very reasonable. I have a factory 727 converter that you can have for free.

Appreciate it, I'm running a 904 though. Thanks for the info, I'm at the end of my second engine build for this car and am getting by without cutting corners so far and the TC issue came up and figured I was screwed.

I have had good luck with DYNAMIC units....stock rebuilds work great for mild engines.

I went to my local transmission shop and he got me a Daaco the next day for $95.

Yes they are. Gold is selling today for $1542. Therefore a typical 25 pound Torque Converter is worth over $600,000. I'll sell you one for $500,000. My loss/your gain.

The best Torque Converters are made of Platinum and worth much more than the garden variety gold ones.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
