Moving the battery to the trunk. Do AGM batteries (Optima, etc) require a battery box w/vent? Or is a hold down sufficient?
Thanks.

Thanks. So, is the back seat considered a wall?

The seat itself... no... has to be alum or steel

I doubt it and didn't consider it to be with in the rules on Gina's 72.
I removed the seat back, installed a piece of sheet metal to the cross braces just behind the seat, then reinstalled the seat.
Unless you look in through the trunk you wouldn't even know it's there and didn't take bit a 1/2 hour to get done.
I used poster board to make a template before cutting the sheet.

I'm using the stock tank.
The Dart will spend most of its life on the street, I just wanted to make sure of the requirements if I decide to play at the track from time to time.
Your sheet metal wall, I assume you just screwed it in place? I have seen guys weld them in, I am too far along (painted, etc.) to be firing up the welder inside the car.

I have an Aluminum box in my car made by Taylor. Sealed so it passes Tech for NHRA and IHRA. $80 or so, its a nice piece.

An aircraft box isn't gonna do him any good unless its sealed and vented outside the car. Needs to either, build a fire wall along the package tray and behind the rear seat (no speakers allowed). Or get a sealed battery box.
I had a firewall in my car behind the seat and they dinged me for my speakers. They were in the stock location and they said it could still burn through. So out came the firewall and in went a sealed box. Haven't had any issues at any race since, NHRA divisionals, local bracket races, ET finals etc.

Good to know. My trunk bars go through the speaker holes. If I did it again I would have sent them through behind the speaker holes.
I'll check out the Taylor box. I think that is the one I had my eye on.
