Just a preface...I did do a search on here and I've read some of the other threads on Pro Comp heads. I'm hoping this doesn't turn into a discussion on the ethics of buying Pro Comp (chinese) over Edelbrocks
Just wondering if anyone here has noticed all the Pro Comp aluminum heads being sold on the Bag with no reserve. They seem to be selling for around $675-$700 a pair complete. A fairly good/tempting price it seems, but from what I gathered from the other threads is they are not a true bolt-on head, especially not "out-of-the-box". And this seller comes across as more of a "wholesaler" than a true shop.

I'm seriously considering purchasing a set, has anyone here bought a set of these (would really like to hear from anyone who's purchased them from this recent batch selling on Ebag), and if so, what all did you have to do to make them "right"? As in, valvejob, were the guides and springs setup correctly or need to be reworked, any other "gotchas"? What other machine work can I expect? Are the intake valves really a 2.25"? Seems large. I do intend to take them to a machine/cylinder head shop I trust to have them looked over.

And what is with the pushrod sleeve or tunnel (one of the other threads here referenced this) needing machining because if the altered angle of the pushrod?

As far as the springs go...they come with "Single with dampner 145lbs closed pressure. Springs will accomadate .650 lift" according to the literature. I'm running the old-school MP purple .528 solid cam.

A friend of mine, Maximus Wedges, bought a set. He said by the time he got all the little problems ironed out he had the price of a set of 'good' heads in them. They did make pretty good power though. Dave

I bought a set with cnc max wedge ports. The biggest problem was the valves. The valve angle did not match the seats. They touch on one side of the opening but not on the other. This was consistant on every valve on both heads. The heads did come with 2.25 valves but the valve seats are for 2.2 inche valves. The valves sit on top of the seats instead of the 45 degree angle surface. These heads do appear to be a good quality casting as far as I have found no porisity. They require offset lifters and grinding of pushrod clearance.
