Just a heads up - not posting to start an NHRA discussion.

A new roll-cage padding rule goes into effect today.

In the 2011 NHRA Rulebook on page 5 of the E.T. Section 4A and in the General Regulations Section 20, page 20 it states “ Beginning June 1, 2011, roll-cage padding meeting SFI Spec 45.1 mandatory on any vehicle running 9.99 (6.39 1/8-mile) and quicker. Padding must be used anywhere driver’s helmet may come in contact with roll-cage components.”

I think the SFI only comes in half circle only.

u know 1/2 the people who make these rules are probably share holders in the pad company!!! padding a roll cage? but the meatwod on these snow mobiles and rice rockets can go 8 sec with just leather on!!!!

this rule got me last season downunder. when sitting in the car there was only 1 place my helmet could come in contact with so i only used 1 ft of padding, you hardly even notice it.

Whackin' your helmet on this stuff feels just like the roll bar!!

That said, I know it'll do more good than the old stuff if I crash the car again.

just bought 2 lengths today 30.00 each ouch .Maybe I'm hoping for some 9s at KCIR ,90+ temps not likely .
How did you cut it feels tuff to cut ?

I used a little 4x6 Jet band saw and it cuts like butter. Sawzall should work well too.

Luckily I only have one bar that my helmet could contact so I didn't need much


I cut it with a hacksaw and it cut real easy.
