Was there ever any form of a functional hood scoop available on 69 Barracudas?

I seem to remember two small scoops but don't know if the were functional or not.

Thanks,
Bill

I think those were only for looks. I believe the only fresh air induction systems were on the B and E bodies (and maybe C?).

I agree. I just sold m y 69 A57 383 4spd Cuda & it had the dummy
hood scoops & black stripes. They were only for looks & too bad
Ma Mopar never had a N96 option for the a body cudas, except for the 68 SStock.

Ok, off topic...

I will say that 69 Barracuda hoods with thier one year only ridged hood look really good with 70-71 Cuda shaker hoods and rings adapted to them.

They are not one year only, 73-76 Dart Sport...

I just knew someone would bring that up. Thought it was just be confusing to mention it.

One year only on a Barracuda though. IIRC, understructure is different in the 73-76 Darts, correct?

But if you want to put one on a 67 or 68 Barracuda you could rob one from a 73-76 Dart like you mention and and metal or bondo to the top of 67/68 nose like the pink 67 pictured above.

I have pretty fairly roached 67 nose with solid bondo on top to mate to a 69 Barracuda hood. Probably to repair colision damage to the front of a 69 Barracuda as the 67 and 68 stuff is easier to find.

I believe in the '69 "MOTION" catalog, Chrysler actually mentions that you could make them funtionable with some of grandma's vacuum hose? I'll check the catalog and get back with ya!!

I'm the CARETAKER of Weinstats '69 440 'cuda registry and have 104 of the 360 cars to date. 84 fastbacks/20 coupes. Always looking for new(REAL M-code) '69 440 'cudas to add to the registry so drop me a note if any are found or known. This isn't a publicly released registry. Thanks, Dave

Ok, so the catalog is Motion. By Plymouth. VolumeII(2).
The exact quote is "Like all high-out-put Plymouths, the 'Cuda carries its own pair of hood scoops, which in this case are combined with a couple of virile-looking racing stripes. The scoops, by the way, can easily be modified to funnel fresh air into the carburetor. All you need is a bit of auntie's vacuum cleaner hose, and your in business."
