if space permits you could use a braided hose which can be smaller than the rubber and still flow enough.I have -16 in and out of my radiator. another thing with the braided is you might be able to use ends with angles to make the braided hose get routed in a different manner. I had probelms and at one point came from the pump and when down under a frame tube.Then had a 90 degree end on it entering from the below the radiator
