Adjusting for slack will only solve your problem at partial throttle. You will ALSO lose your high rpm upshift.

To have both an earlier upshift at partial throttle AND a max rpm shift at WOT.
You need to shorten the throttle lever on the transmission. Basically you drill another hole inboard on the throttle lever.

A shorter lever will give you more action or a bigger sweep for the same amount of cable travel.
