Very good idea, especially considering it's never been started before. To check this just pull the coil wire out of the dist. cap and lay it on the intake to ground it. Now turn it over and see if it spins normally. If it does you need to back the timing off a little (turn the dist counter clockwise.) Put the coil wire back in the cap and try it again.
