Let me know how much it cost's you to fix the 8 3/4 AND transmission when it breaks! I've been there done that and it's not cheap. When I decided enough is enough I got a Dana from a pickup, knocked out the tubes installed chrome moly tubes, Mark Williams 40 spline gun drilled axles, MW aluminum spool, MW housing ends and Richmond pro gears for 2400.00 3yrs ago. Of course you need to find a narrowing jig to use and do the work yourself! When I was done the Dana was only 3 pounds more than the 8 3/4 it replaced! You can still sell the 8 3/4 at this point.
