Depends on the build of the rest of the motor. If it's say a ~500hp street/strip 440, a single 4 could perform as just as good as a dual quad manifold(assuming your talking about something like the edelbrock ch-28, not a tunnel ram) or a 6-pack setup.

6-packs are nice but they are mainly bling/bragging rights. Yes they can perform well, but a well tuned/selected 4bbl could perform equally or better than a 6-pack. Same goes for a dual quad intake. More carbs does not necessarily mean better power, although it does mean more work to tune.
