I agree both can put together a good transmission for your application. As far as the price, make a list of the aftermarket (new) parts each is using in their build. This should identify the difference in part costs and let you pick what you want. Use their price lists, but for example:

$225 Valve body
$100 Deep pan with filter extension (check prices)
$ 35 Front clutches (Alto Red Eagle)
$ 15 Rear clutches (stock replacement for comparison)
$ 20 Steel clutch plates (Kolene steels are double that)
$ xx billet rear servo
$ xx billet front servo
$ 25 HD servo return spring
$550 New Steel or Aluminum front drum (not cast factory)
$100 Roller rear support
$ 25 New pump gears (HD steel ~$150)
$yyy gaskets, seals, rings (overhaul kit)
etc.
