no idea on mileage on the tranny before I got it, but I have about 32k on it now and it's still going strong.
for OD/lockup, I'm using 2 NO pressure switches that are lockup switches in TH350 trannies, IIRC one is ~40PSI, the other 48. I'm using a GM NO vacuum switch in the hot leg, as well as a toggle switch for O/D cancel.
That's basically how I'm doing mine, other than I don't have a lock up....it's a 92 2 wire 518.
