The 518/46RH can have either a 2-pin or 3-pin connector because they were available with or without lockup.
Unfortunately the term 518 is often used to describe all large case OD transmissions, the 46RE isn't a 518 and it will always have an 8-pin connector instead of the 2 or 3-wire connector found on the 518/46RH.
