just from my experience i found the silicone to spread under head/bolt tq and putting on as thin a layer as possable was good enough.it can get pushed into the head oil passage to the rockers and could stop oil to 1 if it would happin.my luck that is.i have pics of the block and heads to show the pattern of squish.
