If the fuel press went to high it would just cause gas to drip from the nozzle's and flood the eng as it would run bad and be hard to keep running. It would not cause the idle to raise. It sounds like it stops charging and takes that small load from the alt away and can cause the idle to raise some as you said it stops charging. I would actually check the charging sysem and make sure the body ground is good as maybe the body ground is bad and it was finding a ground thru the fuel pump ground ?? Ron
