Thats the first place I looked, it has tooling marks on it. Not sure why but it does.



you didn't say that in your post..you did say you were told it was a 383..so I told you were to find numbers on 383...looks like you scored a 440...


You answered the question that I ask even if it didn't answer my question it was me that was sent everyone for a loop. Like I said I'm not familiar with big blocks. I guess the deal I got was a little sweeter than I first thought. The casting date is 11-71 so would that be considered a 72? Either way it was free and looks to be in good condition. Although looks can be decieving. Now to find something to do with it.
