Do a search on this site & see how many Eddy problems you find guys struggling with, vs. how many holley problems guys struggle with. Now balance that against how many more guys are using holleys! I'm sure an expert can make either work fine, but I know I went through two Eddy 750's and never got either of them to satisfy me. I then bought an old Holley 3310 750 VS off ebay and immediately my 383 ran its best.

Nascar guys use holley based carbs, Prostock guys use holley based carbs, Walk through the staging lanes at any drag strip & count Holleys vs. Eddys. Its no accident. I think the Holley design just measures and reacts to a vacuum signal better than the old carter design, which really comes into play when you throw long duration camshafts, extended initial timing, headers and such into the mix.

My choice for a street 408 would be a holley 770 avenger series, but a 3310 750 would work very well also.
