I've lightened the car and added a bunch of power over the years and had good luck with the whole combination. HOWEVER, I've never run the stock planetary or input shaft. I think that would be asking a lot in your car but if you have the parts and don't worry too much about breakage go for it. It'll cost quite a bit for adapters, driveshaft etc. so do your homework on the overall cost.

I have first hand experience with them in cars making good power.
