I've always smeared a bit on the throwout bearing sleeve, face, pivot points on the fork, the input shaft spline, pilot bushing or bearing and never had any issues.

If and if it's a problem, a tiny bit of grease on the clutch will burn off in a hurry. It's not a constant feed of grease, just a bit of run off.
