My winning limerick from last year. This year, they've limited it to a normal 5 line limerick. I made them make a rule!

"A Ghostly Cheer" by Ron Huntley, Jr.

There once was a ghostly group
A scary and ornery troop
They'd travel around
To cities and towns
To Scare Folks with howls, screams and whoops

They stumbled, on Saturday past dark
Upon Summit Motorsports Park
It was filled with racers
From corvettes to pacers
And the ghost leader had an evil spark

I do like this place immensely
The people are packed in so densely
Let's saddle up boys
And go make some noise
And frighten these people intensely

So they gathered themselves unseen
Above the starter (a man not so lean)
They'd pop into existence
On their leaders insistence
And let loose with unholy screams

But their plans were knocked to the floor
By a sudden calamitous roar
If the ghosts had the chance
They'd have wet their pants
The ghosts were scared to the core

Soon the spirits recovered
They liked the noise, they discovered
The "air show" had started
And so the departed
Watched cars ripping off their back bumpers

The spirits then looked all around
And were surprised at what they found
Ghosts hovered round the track
Past racers had come back
From their resting places in the ground

So instead of scaring at will
The ghosts remained silent and still
The classic raced on
Til the last car was gone
And all of the spirits were thrilled

Late October comes every year
And ghosts from far and near
Come and take their seats
And watch us compete
Listen closely, you might hear them cheer
