If it was, you can steam clean it first before any blasting takes place. That way very little blasting is required to get the metal bare, less stress on the metal so to speak. Done a few cars like this, in my back yard.

Here's the car before any pressure washing was done.

Did the front end before I pulled the K and the rest of the parts.

Did the bottem in 3 1/2 hours of hi pressure steam cleaning aided by gasoline sprayed on the the undercoating to soften it up. Don't use diesel or kerosene!


Not one scrape or gouge mark anywhere, it could be painted like it is, but a very light blasting makes it ready for paint. Way better than scrapping your butt off and ten times faster.



After cleanup with the broom and shovel. Gas is important to use because it evaporates and doesn't go far and never killed my grass because with the high heat it's gone fast. One afternoon and it's done, not easy but better than the alternative. Rent a steam pressure cleaner when it comes time for this job if you have a spit for the car. You could never do it on your back, too hot.
