I don't see any real advantages here of wall/outlet mounted with those changes except maybe lower manufacturing costs. Maybe better convection cooling of being on an elevated vertical surface rather than a flat surface? I personally discount the concerns of wet/dirty/120V aspects.
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.
