Why not just cut off the snorkel flush and clean up the opening? Not perfect, but sounds like it would do what you want.
That's what I'm trying to figure out. I was hoping someone had experience doing it, maybe some pics they could share with everyone.
The base plate is different though. The unsilenced allows more air through the smaller base plate. Would look the same-ish but would not let the additional air as the unsilenced does.
you are thinking of the pre 1970 , the 70/71 doesn't have the type of base you linked in your other post , it's similar to the dual snorkel type without snorkels.
