For about half of the 36 years I did in construction, I worked out of town, commuting sometimes 2 hours in the morning and 2 1/2 to 3 in the afternoon. Driving long distances on limited sleep is doable when you're in your 20s but I am far past that now. I just didn't want to risk it. I don't like those energy drinks and I don't use drugs. Sleep was the only option for me.
I read that there were some long delays for the show cars getting into place.
It happens. Sometimes there are computer glitches, power supply issues, a volunteer arrives late....all sorts of things can happen. The big shows back east have admission charges and bring in a LOT more money. They probably have paid employees. Out west, everyone is a volunteer. Nobody gets paid. When you yell at a volunteer, they just quit and leave.
