Ihave a tree farm near the Ohio river. Harvesting 200 acres this month. Surprised to learn we had some ash still alive. My home place , the ash are all gone, and what is left has gotten too punky to even use as firewood. I have an outdoor furnace. Did a harvest at the home farm last year, and the forester dropped a cou0le large standing dead ash before he left.

Of the rotted stuff, I managed to get a Rick 9f firewood. It is great for that. Burns hot and little ash left over. The neighbor did a heavy harvest a couple years ago, and China bought his good ash, and had it hauled out at full length. No milling or cutting to twelve foot logs. Just load into containers and ship.

May have a significant impact on baseball bats, too. If you want to learn about the impact of tree loss, research the American Chestnut. The impact on the industry, and Appalachian families was devastating.
