If the oil hole for the pushrod lined up with the oil gallery, it would flood the top end.


On that lifter, the oil feed hole is parallel to the axel, and above the oil band.
The oil has to squeeze between the lifter body and the lifter bore to get from the oil band into the feed hole.
That is the normal solid roller lifter “edge orifice oiling” set up.

On OE SBM LA blocks, you have to be aware that there can be an issue with lifters that have an oil band, that the oil band can start to become exposed near full lift on blocks that have lifter bosses that have excessively deep counter bores.
