I don't have a race engine, but I do have a 408 based on a 360 with a procharger and electronic fuel injection that I run on pump gas on the street. So the main advice I have is use a set up that will control the ignition timing with a computer, and if possible, knock sensors. My system works great on the street with 6 lbs of boost and 91 octane fuel. By the specs I gave I am not leaning on it at all, it makes around 600HP and gets 20mpg if you drive it at the speed limit. I have messed with a few Holley systems and they like to advance the timing too much sometimes. You always need to use the lap top software to tune so you can adjust the timing maps. If you use the handheld it asks for three points Idle, Cruise, and WOT then draws a curve. Full advance starts at 2,000rpm on the ones I messed with. Mine is a FiTech and it has a separate timing map for boost conditions, I would ask Holley if they offer something similar.
