Send it. My assumption for TTI's placement is clearance issues that could arise by putting it in any position other than horizontal. My guess is that is the easiest place to install one on a musclecar to avoid hitting something. Given all the variations of things done in prodcution and the way folls install engines in the cars. Just a guess, but it is not going to hurt anything you will find many production cars with similar locations. Moisture would be the only problematic issue.
