i have used the stock style steel shim head gaskets on iron block and heads with the stock machine work with no problems using 2 or 3 light coats of Copper Coat on both sides of those gaskets

I've also used aluminum paint when I was out of copper coat and couldn't go buy another can of it do to the parts stores being close at night and I needed
