One area that I would love to see it is in rocker arm shafts. A DLC coated shaft in my Jesel paired rockers and a bronze bushing, with a large hole in the top of the rocker body for splash oiling. Even with limited oiling it might work well in a drag application. One less set of needle bearings to end up in the oil pump!!


The base material needs to be hard and possess very good compressive strength. Base materials like aluminium, titanium and some steels wouldn't be suitable.

Jesel offers the DLC coating on their Hemi rocker shafts for Top Fuel from memory, or at least they used to.
