Most race belts are NOT DOT approved . Don't ask how I know .
My car didn't COME with seatbelts originally, so...
but you can still run down the track with 50 yr old lap belt
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and still, you MUST replace two year old, ALL SANCTION APPROVED, aftermarket belts THAT LOOK NEW !!!!!!
i just don't get it. GREED seems to be the ONLY reason for this "rule"...........
Totally agree with this! OK, I guess if your belts sit outside in a top down convertible or Jeep maybe two years is too long.
But these cars mostly sit in garages, and unless you're racing every week don't get that much sun.
I think I've seen a 4 pt set that had the shoulder harness stitched to the lap belt, (each side) may have been DOT approved.
You kind of slip your arms in and buckle the lap belt, pretty cool!
