The fact that any of that was an acceptable idea to he kid shows dad might not have taught the kid to be responsible. There's blame everywhere there.

I feel sorry for you.
Oh, I did burn outs in my Dads 1969 Ford Torino Cobra Jet 428 and bent the rear trailing arm, I had to pay for and fix the damage. Plus I got grounded for a month as well. It taught me a life lesson.
