Wonder if opted for the insurance? When you rent a u haul trailer they ask you what you are driving and what are you towing to see if it's acceptable. I'm sure the software that figures that out didn't know about the 500 pounds of batteries in the trunk.
I was wondering about insurance on the car itself. First thing I do when I buy a car is get insurance. Before picking it up or having it shipped, whatever. Not worth saving the money for a few days of insurance. As far as the trailer goes, he's probably covered with his vehicle. but I'm no so sure about the load. May become a civil case in court if he exceeded the load limit of trailer.
