when tapping small holes in cast items like carb bodies, especially shallow threads, i like to use form [roll] taps.
there is less chance of making the threads oversize with that type of tap. those are also available at mcmaster as well as other places.
however, these taps require a [slightly] larger hole than cut taps, so check a chart to make sure you use the correct size drill.
